Job description

Welcome to Sage Ag Inc! We provide a variety of contract services to top agricultural, equipment, construction equipment, and forestry equipment providers. Sage Ag has been a leading provider for more than a decade. We provide the following services: software testing and development, engineering, mechanical support, field testing, facilities management, factory installation, rework and support, worldwide logistics, and prototype equipment support. We are currently seeking an Ag Equipment Test Engineer to join our team in Urbandale, IA (About 10 miles west of Des Moines). In this position, you will be working with a major agricultural machinery manufacturer in an experimental field test environment and/or simulated lab environment. You will be working independently and as a team with engineers and technicians on the cutting edge of agricultural machinery technology. As a Test Engineer, you will help develop, support, and maintain the next generation of “smart” farm machines and play a key role in enabling further product development by supporting the test activities of proprietary equipment and/or software programs. We offer a competitive salary based on experience ($55,000 - $65,000 per year), medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401K with company match, paid time off, bonuses, and all paid travel expenses. What you will be doing in this role:

Providing in-field engineering support, including data collection, field test, troubleshoot, diagnose, resolve, and document all aspects of the machines and/or products
Deliver a test plan that verifies software meets technical and customer requirements
Testing software on experimental equipment and reporting machine issues to software engineers
Performing frequent software updates to test vehicles and equipment
Diagnosing and repairing machine failures and trying to reproduce the defects.
Responsible for communication with test cooperators (farmers) and effectively communicating needs back to engineering

Updating precision agriculture display and vehicle controller software

Based on your background and experience you may do more equipment, electric, or mechanical systems testing or you may do more software testing. Electric/Mechanical Systems Testing

Monitoring and field-testing new release autonomous tractors
Monitoring and field-testing hay & forage equipment

Agriculture Equipment Software Testing

Software testing in lab environment using simulators
Prototype and Experimental Machine testing

What we’re looking for:
Degree in an Agriculture, Engineering, Computer Science, Management Systems, or other related major. Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required
Some experience with farm machinery and farming practices
Knowledge of precision agriculture & application equipment
Experience in supporting/maintaining agricultural electro-mechanical systems is preferred
Strong technology and computer troubleshooting skills
Self-motivated and ability to work well in an individual or team setting.
Outgoing with a positive attitude and professional presentation
Valid U.S Driver’s License and clean driving record
Ability to keep accurate & detailed records of work performed
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills and ability to effectively communicate findings
Ability to travel for six weeks or more at a time (Depending on project assigned)
