Position Summary:
The Financial Aid & Scholarship Office is responsible for complex, prescriptive and detailed data reporting at the federal, state, and institutional levels. This position reports to the Associate Director for Operations and Fiscal Management and supports institutional and departmental management by performing research and analysis to assist with data projects; maintaining and enhancing existing analytical databases and automated data models; assisting with development and monitoring of queries/reports; and preparing and/or submitting reports. Must independently manage assigned projects; develop PeopleSoft expertise to troubleshoot and maximize accuracy and efficiency of projects; and collaborate with internal and external partners. Must know and apply all applicable federal privacy laws regarding sharing of student data; ensure that all federal, state, and institutional regulations are met, especially related to security of student data in reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Complete federal, state, and institutional financial aid data reports
- Complete federal/state/institutional required financial aid reports, independently or in collaboration with the Associate Director, including but not limited to: FISAP , Federal Work Study, GEER , IPEDS , HEERF , AIMHIGH , IBHE , Gainful Employment, Big Future, US News & World Reports, Petersons, Poets & Quants, etc.
- Provide ad hoc data on demand for administrative or legislative needs, such as Pell counts, award counts, hearing data, MAP trends, Huskie Pledge statistics, Food Pantry, CCAMPIS , BRAVEN , and others.
- Assist in maintaining internal data warehouse.
- Ensure integrity and accuracy of data, and that all reporting requirements and deadlines are met.
Develop and maintain internal financial aid data reporting tools and respond to internal data requests
- Develop and maintain complex SQL queries, PeopleSoft queries, and external data sources; utilize PeopleSoft reporting tolls such as Connected Query, Composite Query, BI Publisher, XML templates and custom data sources such as Tableau.
- Ensure and maintain security and integrity of student data; ensure all data collection, analysis, and reporting efforts are accomplished with accuracy and integrity; maintain and audit internal access to PeopleSoft query records.
- Coordinate with campus partners for data collection needs; support development and documentation of data definitions in business use cases and work with fellow data stewards on collaborative understanding.
- Interpret staff data needs; update or create queries and exception reports for internal staff to support processing needs.
- Serve as financial aid representative for data projects related to financial aid awards (videos, paper letter processes, EAB or other vendor projects, etc.).
- Assist with pulling and organizing data for federal, state, and internal audit responses.
- Resolve data discrepancies and advise on data collection efforts; develop continuous improvement processes to maximize available technology.
Support financial aid teams
- Provides support to financial aid processing and customer service teams during peak periods.
- Participates in special projects and committees as assigned.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Any one or any combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the following categories:
a. College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
b. Work experience in IT-related functions, such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field.
