Job Description

Job Title: Accounting Manager


Position Summary: Dollar Loan Center and its affiliates are very straightforward and easy-to-understand businesses with no supply chain or significant inventory concerns. The Accounting Manager serves as the #2 leader in the Accounting Department. In addition to accounting decisions and deliverables, the Accounting Manager will also be responsible for the day-to-day guidance and development of the other members of the department and for providing accounting and policy guidance to other departments across the organization.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


• Oversee day-to-day Accounting Department functions and processes, including, but not limited to:
o Internal management reporting of operational and financial KPIs (daily, weekly, monthly),
o Cash management across multiple entities and bank accounts,
o Bank reconciliations and other balance sheet account maintenance,
o Overseeing the accounts payable staff and processes.


• Work closely with the Corporate Controller to lead the Accounting Department in the monthly and annual closing of the books and assembly and review of the internal and external financial reporting. Note: This will include sole responsibility for closing the monthly books and delivering the monthly reporting package in some months when the Corporate Controller is unavailable or engaged with other responsibilities.


• Produce accurate and easy-to-digest monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for each entity in the affiliated group for the Controller's review, and periodically upload final reports onto a shareholder portal.


• Provide input into the rolling cash forecast and review the forecast to inform cash management and bank account responsibilities.


• Review work product of junior members of the Accounting Department, including, but not limited to:
o Use Tax Filings
o Unclaimed Property Filings
o Personal Property Tax Filings
o Bank and Credit Card Reconciliations
o Payroll Reconciliations
o Fixed Asset Reconciliations
o Lease Reconciliations


• Monitor existing internal controls and develop and implement new controls, when necessary, and work with other department heads to train and ensure compliance.


• Understand the regulatory requirements and restrictions for each of the entities in the affiliated group and ensure that the Accounting Department is trained appropriately to ensure compliance.


• Review new vendors/invoices and compare contracts; ensure proper approvals and follow up with department heads to verify accuracy and understanding of costs, when necessary.


• Interface with the Compliance Department to provide accounting, financial, and other data needed for annual Secretary of State filings, business license applications/renewals, regulatory filings, etc.


• Review and drive compliance with existing accounting and administrative policies and procedures. Identify areas where new policies and procedures are needed and work with the Controller to develop, implement, and ensure compliance with such new policies and procedures, as needed.


• Work with the Controller to manage Dollar Loan Center's annual external audit, including fulfilling information/testing requests, responding to inquiries, and participating in the review of the draft annual financial statement reports.


• Work with the Controller and external accounting firms that prepare the annual tax returns to ensure fulfillment of information requests, etc.


• Understand the various entities' business operations and use that understanding to help spot accounting challenges and then develop, evaluate, and recommend potential solutions.


• Other duties and responsibilities outlined by the Controller and/or CFO.

Requirements for Education and/or Experience:

•Accounting Degree from an accredited four-year program.

•Strong experience with Oracle NetSuite.

•At least 7 years of overall accounting experience, including experience performing or undergoing external financial statement audits and/or preparing entity income tax returns.

•Must have experience in a multi-entity environment and have good understanding of consolidated financial statements, intercompany eliminations, etc.

•Efficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).

•Audit experience strongly preferred.
