Job description
Objectives:
This position is required to work within the framework of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul's mission and thrift store's objectives. It is the Production Manager's responsibility to oversee the daily production operations and workflow for the SVDP Fairview Heights retail store.
Salary Range: $38,000 - $42,000 annually depending on qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring production targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) are met on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Monitors incoming donations and makes decisions on production priorities and categories based on sell-through rates and inventory levels.
- Leads daily production huddles and updates production boards to communicate priorities, goals, and schedules to the team.
- Coaches and provides feedback to production team members on workflow, efficiency, and performance.
- Evaluates POS reports to ensure the production team and individuals are meeting daily, weekly, and monthly targets.
- Completes daily, weekly, and monthly production reports for management on volumes, productivity, and performance metrics.
- Oversees product rotation from production to the sales floor to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Coordinates daily truck orders and donations based on production needs and storage capacity.
- Understands sales floor product levels and best-selling categories to inform production priorities.
- Discusses what is needed for the sales floor with the Store Manager.
- Responsible for maintaining an organized production area and workflow, keeping the work area neat and tidy.
- Oversees regular production audits, including communicating results and scores to the team, recognizing superior performance, and implementing any required action items to address issues or opportunities for improvement.
- Responsible for driving continuous improvement in production quality and processes based on audit findings.
- Ensures all staff and volunteers adhere to all policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Responsible for keeping an inventory of all production supplies and informs the Store Manager when supplies are needed to make sure the inventory never runs low.
- Other assignments as determined by supervisor.
Key Competencies of the Position:
- Knowledge of production processes, workflow, and inventory management.
- Ability to analyze data and metrics to inform operational decisions.
- Proficiency in reporting and meeting key performance indicators.
- Excellent organizational and time management
- Computer skills knowledge
- Valid Driver's License
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Strong leadership, people management, and communication skills.
- Flexibility/adaptability to a variety of assignments
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience Requirements:
- A high school or GED equivalent is preferred. A college degree in business administration, accounting and additional experience in merchandising and sales is a plus.
- Prior supervisory experience in production or warehouse operations required.
- Learn, apply, and interpret policies related to the operation of the thrift stores.
- Communicate effectively with staff, members of the SVDP, and the general public.
- Deal effectively and openly with staff, achieving results through positive human relationships.
- Write required reports in an intelligible manner.
- Maintain accurate accounting of all financial transactions.
- Price merchandise according to current rates and economic demands.
- Knowledge of POS system and reports.
- Experience coaching and developing team members.
Accountability:
- Adheres to policies and procedures of the Society and all pertinent legal regulations.
- Participates in annual self-evaluation and performance review.
