Responsibilities

Franciscan Medical Group, as part of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, is seeking a full-time Financial Analyst I for the Franciscan Medical Group Finance department in Tacoma, WA. Excellent team-based work environment, flexible work schedule. Part time remote options available after training period is complete. No weekends or organizationally recognized holidays required. 

Job Summary:

This job is responsible for performing a variety of moderately complex financial analysis procedures to track financial performance against business plans/budgets and develop analyses/forecasts and accurate reports providing actionable data to support management in making informed tactical and strategic decisions.  Work includes:  1) analyzing operating records, and financial statements to determine current and forecast future financial performance; 2) preparing/presenting financial data to management for review and subsequent decision-making; 3) preparing financial statements and related documents; 4) assisting with the operating/capital budget processes; and 5) coordinating special projects to analyze the impact of financial actions on downstream reporting systems.  

Work requires knowledge of the standards and practices relative to the finance/accounting disciplines, as well as expertise in the collection, analysis, and communication of statistical data and results.  Application of sound financial analysis techniques (e.g. data-driven analysis, consistency of methodology, clarity of linkages between findings and recommendations, etc.) is also required.

Essential Duties: 

Performs a variety of financial analysis activities to monitor, including financial modeling, forecasting and reporting, in support of CHI Franciscan business/financial operations and planning; assures the development of timely, accurate and objective analyses for all assigned projects.   

Meets with department/clinic/service line managers and other stakeholders to develop historical and forecasted financial statements based on past performance and other relevant factors; prepares and distributes periodic standard and ad hoc reports per established procedures.

Documents financial analysis activities and source information and properly references work flow and calculations utilizing lead schedules.

Participates in the annual budgeting process, preparing budget information based on historical data and working with managers to develop department budgets.

Participates in special and/or long-term projects, as assigned; identifies/accesses source information and other resources required; considers the impact of changes to existing systems; investigates and rectifies issues and creates checking mechanisms to prevent errors.

Performs related duties as required.
