Due to continued growth, our Energy Group is seeking a full-time Principal Electrical Engineer to work for us in either our Birmingham , AL , Tampa, FL, or Kennesaw , GA, Dallas, TX and Fort Worth, TX locations .
Responsibilities (including but are not limited to)
- Responsible for project development and execution for a variety of engineering projects at power generation plants and heavy industrial facilities.
- Managing budget, scope, schedule, and quality associated with the designated projects with minimal guidance and technical oversight.
- Directing and overseeing routine and advanced technical work performed by others on assigned projects and maintaining quality standards of all assigned projects.
- Applying basic technical principle, theories, standards, and codes to design and prepar e engineering design packages for Power Generation and Industrial clients including drawings, calculations, specifications, and engineering evaluations .
- Reviewing and checking designs, drawings, and data prepared by other engineers or subcontractors.
- Applying industry codes, standards, and government regulations.
- Working well with engineers of varied disciplines.
- Interfacing with other staff engineers as well as engineers working for our clients.
- Traveling and participating in field installation, checkout, and start-up.
- Mentoring engineering staff.
- Conduct ing project update s and design review meetings with clients on a regular basis.
- Developing client relationships to foster growth and sales.
Required Qualifications / skills
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited school.
- 10+ years’ experience in Electrical Engineering in Power Generation Plants and/or Industrial Facilities
- Experience with new greenfield or brownfield facility projects, facility expansions, and/or major facility upgrades or modifications .
- Prior power system design experience .
- Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with preparing e lectrical c alculations.
- Ability to provide advanced technical oversight and make recommendations based on knowledge and experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in teams.
- Must be able to conduct walkdowns at client sites including the ability to traverse stairs and ladders and work outside in all weather conditions.
- Ability to travel 10%-20% of the time.
- A basic understanding of PLC/DCS programming and hardware
Preferred Qualifications / skills
- A PE License or the ability to obtain a PE License in multiple states
- Prior hands-on design experience with indu strial and/ or power generation facilities
- Experience with arc flash analysis, load flow, and coordination studies utilizing ETAP and/or SKM .
- Extensive knowledge of design practices in multiple types of industrial facilities or power generation facilities
- A basic understanding of instrumentation specifications for the industrial industry

- Ability to pass a pre -employment and random drug and alcohol screenings, ENERCON and client-specific background checks, and annual motor vehicle record (MVR) reviews according to company and client policies.
