Position Overview:
Are you ready to make an impact in the world of firearms and tactical equipment? We are seeking a Senior Buyer for New Product Introduction (NPI) and Tactical responsibilities. This role involves engaging with suppliers, assessing vendor capacity, and negotiating pricing to support our NPI initiatives. As a key player in the team, you'll collaborate with Design Engineers, contribute to strategic projects, and play a vital role in the success of our organization.

Responsibilities:

Act as the primary liaison between our organization and suppliers during the NPI process.
Take ownership of specific projects or broader purchasing responsibilities.
Select potential suppliers based on commodity, project scope, and budget considerations.
Establish new sources as approved suppliers.
Create and maintain purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Evaluate supplier quotes and make award decisions accordingly.
Identify opportunities to reduce costs, lead time, and enhance quality.
Collaborate with Planning to address excess and obsolete materials.
Review Engineering Change Requests and manage open PO liability.
Work with Production Buyers to facilitate smooth transitions from development to production.
Contribute to Material Review Board (MRB) for non-conforming material disposition.
Escalate supplier-related issues promptly and effectively.
Maintain positive relationships with suppliers, emphasizing clear communication and collaboration.
Stay informed about changes in the supply base and communicate potential impacts to the team.
Requirements:

Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred but not required).
Practical manufacturing machining experience (preferred but not required).
APICS certification is a plus.
10+ years of experience as a Buyer within a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in an NPI role.
Proven track record working with international suppliers.
Ability to read and understand Engineering Drawings.
Experience with ERP systems, Oracle EBS, and Agile (preferred).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge of item attributes and their effects on MRP messages.
Familiarity with FARS and DFARS, ITAR experience, especially with technical data transfer.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.
Working Conditions:

Position involves sitting 75% of the workday.
Travel required (10-25%).
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Must adhere to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements in designated areas.
