This position is an exciting opportunity for anyone that enjoys tool design. Our division makes interferometers, which require a lot of tooling to hold optics and other mechanical parts. With production demand increasing at a fast rate, thoughtful tooling design is vital to ensuring that growth.
Primary responsibility is to replicate existing tools and design new glass fabrication tools. Responsibilities will include designing tools for manufacturing, interfacing with production and engineering, DFM design, work with tooling sourcing team, and provide sufficient documentation.
These tools will be used in machines to fabricate precision optical components and for building optical products. The machines vary from CNC saws, 5 axis milling, 72” pitch polisher, double side grinder /polisher, and MRF polishing.
BS or MS in Engineering, Industrial or Mechanical
5+ years of experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must.
Skills:
Solid understanding of DFM tool design
NX or comparable 3D modeling
GD&T drafting standards
Ability to work with other teams
Ability to work on teams and motivate team members to address quality issues.

Santa Clara, CA pay range: MIN $88,000.00 - MAX $147,000.00
Note: For other locations, pay ranges will vary by region
