Upward Bound House (UBH) is dedicated to ending the cycle of intergenerational family homelessness. We compassionately provide a continuum of services ranging from crisis housing to permanent housing and homelessness prevention. Position Summary:
UBH seeks a bright and highly-motivated individual with excellent critical thinking ability to join our growing Development Department. The Development Coordinator (DC) plays a vital role in supporting our 2024 revenue goal of $11 million. This person will be responsible for managing the donor database, conducting prospect research, overseeing the donor acknowledgement process and will be the right-hand to the Chief Development Officer. The DC will be joining UBH at an exciting time of growth and may have the opportunity to grow into additional responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Database Administration:
Support the Development Department’s Salesforce donor database, including:
- Daily entry of donation checks and review of online donation activity.
- Generate standard and customized donor reports for weekly review.
- Weekly prospect research to build comprehensive profiles on all donors.
- Support in tracking volunteer engagement in Salesforce.
- Implement data entry standards and processes for all development staff to follow.
- Prepare donation acknowledgement letters and mailings.
- Ensure CRM data integrity through accurate data entry and ongoing clean-up efforts.
- Reconcile donations with the Finance Department on a monthly basis.
Development Team Support:
Provide administrative support to the Development Department, including:
- Research to identify new individual donors and to increase current donor giving.
- Research new contacts made by senior staff and board members.
- Support grant writing team by tracking application stages and organizing files.
- Generate clear, action-oriented meeting notes to keep team on track.
- Coordinate the distribution of recurring appeals and stewardship materials.
- Other duties that support the needs of the Development Department, as assigned.
Fundraising Event Support
Provide administrative support to the event staff, including:
- Generate invite lists based on Salesforce reporting.
- Track RSVPs and assist with follow-up calls to invitees when needed.
- Prepare reports of giving information for potential event attendees.
- Assemble event materials such as name tags and sign-in sheets.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Passion for the mission of Upward Bound House.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Health, Communications or related field.
- A minimum of three years’ administrative experience, preferably supporting a nonprofit development/fundraising department.
- A minimum of two years’ experience using a CRM database, preferably Salesforce.
- A genuine interest in data management and desire to work in nonprofit fundraising.
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, and strong attention to detail.
- Strong critical thinking ability with a focus on providing solutions.
- Builds strong rapport with staff, board members, donors and volunteers.
- Available for occasional work on weekends and evenings.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
- Employment eligibility verification.
- Current California driver’s license and State-required insurance and a driving record acceptable to the organization and/or its insurance carrier.
- Reliable transportation.
- Successful completion of background screening.
