Job description

Uncommon Good is a nonprofit organization that operates

education, urban farming, health, and mental health programs for low-income

families. Its education program, Connect to College, is a college access

program that provides disadvantaged students in 4th – 12th grades with mentors,

tutors, academic guidance, and enrichment opportunities. Its urban farm

program, CAUSA, provides healthy food and wellness programming for low-income

families. Its MED program supports young doctors who serve in disadvantaged

communities and also functions as a medical career pipeline for Connect to

College students. Uncommon Good is housed in the first-of-its-kind-in-the-world

Whole Earth Building that was built by hand with the assistance of Uncommon

Good students, their families, and hundreds of community volunteers.


Position Summary: The Development Director works full-time with the Associate and Executive Directors to raise $3mm in donations and foundation grants annually. This is a hybrid

position, requiring one day per week in the office. The primary

responsibilities of the position are to research and write foundation and

government grants, and to comply with grant reporting requirements.

Responsibilities:

Research private foundation and government grant

opportunities;

Write proposals and grant reports;·

Create and oversee development calendar;·

Work collaboratively with staff to set and meet

grant objectives;·

Research demographic, health, educational, economic,

and sociological data to support grant proposals

Required Skills:

Excellent business English speaking, writing,

proofreading and editing skills;·

Experience writing sizeable successful

government and private foundation grants;·

Proficiency in Microsoft Office/G Suite;·

Ability to analyze financial reporting documents

and to create budgets

Requirements:

A four-year college degree (B.A or B.S.);·

A minimum of five years of experience with

nonprofit fundraising and development;·

Successful grant writing track record for sizeable

foundation and government grants;·

Willingness to work flexible hours as work is sometimes

required on evenings and weekends;·

Ability to learn additional database management

skills to produce reports and to use advanced functions

Salary and benefits:

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000, depending on

experience. Employer-paid health, dental, vision insurance. Free organic fruits

and vegetables (from Uncommon Good farms). A 403(b) Individual Custodial

Retirement Account. Paid vacation and sick days.
