The UHS Corporate Clinical Services Department is hiring a Per Diem Coder to support Behavioral Health Hospitals HIM Departments with timely high-quality coding of diagnoses and procedures for inpatient and outpatient accounts. Will follow the coding service policy, keep track of hours worked and number of records coded.  

Key Responsibilities include:

• The UHS Corporate Coder will review the medical record to assign accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes.
• Will have knowledge of all coding guidelines and UHS coding policies.
• Thorough knowledge of behavioral health coding and medical terminology required.
• Will communicate with the UHS BH Hospital HIM department staff for the need of additional documentations, physician queries, or other related coding questions.
• Will assist the UHS Corp HIM Manager with coding audits, coding questions, and coding and billing inquiries, and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Technical school or Associate Degree required.
• 3-5 years of behavioral health coding experience required. RHIT or RHIA required.
• CCS or CPC as additional certification preferred.
• Graduate from a Health Information program required and certified coding program preferred.
• Electronic EMR experience preferred.
• Knowledge of computer applications such as MS4 and 3M preferred.
• Travel requirement is approximately 30-40%.
