Sustainability Intern
Role Focus:
We are looking for a Sustainability Intern to join our growing company. You will report directly to the VP of G&A working on GHG emission reporting and reduction projects that help ProPac achieve GHG reduction mandates and make eco-responsible decisions for our business.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Calculate GHG emissions for Scope 2 emissions (e.g. electricity, natural gas and propane use) across all facilities utilizing monthly utility bills
- Create a tracking and reporting tool and monthly process for reporting.
- Help create the overall company GHG emission reduction goal and individual facility emission reduction targets.
- Work with Science Based Target Initiative to obtain approval of emission targets by 2023.
- Participate in educational webinars and classes to learn about methods for ways for the company to reduce our energy use and / or participate in Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs)
- Identify costs and benefits of reduction activities and investments; create management reports
- Support development of energy and water energy conservation programs at each facility.
- Assist with creation of sustainability education and communication materials for all personnel, including monthly Sustainability updates
Ideal Candidate:
- Penchant for excel spreadsheets and organizing data
- Positive energy, curious, analytical, self-driven and excited to work with a small team
- Savvy with a messaging communication tools such as SLACK or MS Teams
- Actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Communication, Journalism, Marketing, English, Sustainability, Sustainable Development, Sustainability Leadership, Environmental Studies, or another applicable discipline.
- At least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Able to intern full-time in the summer (40 hours/week, 10 weeks), and part-time in the fall (20 hours/week, 15 weeks). All hours worked will be in office, this is not a remote position.
