Job description
This 12-month position reports directly to the Director of Advancement.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, direct, and manage the Communications team.
- Oversee creative development of all media including written, graphic, photography and videography as it is distributed through all channels, including web, email, print, social media and signage.
- Direct the maintenance, design and content updates of the School’s MBS website. Work with the Website & Social Media Manager to develop a schedule of updates with targets and completion dates.
- Monitor media coverage and social media outlets; track and provide analysis.
- Direct and review social media content and schedule for both strategy and news posts.
- Serving as Editor in Chief and working collaboratively with our Graphic Designer, create and produce a fall and spring issue of Crimson
- Oversee the production of Advancement materials with the Annual Fund team.
- Oversee the production of Alumni Homecoming/Reunion marketing materials and other materials as needed with the Alumni Relations team.
- Oversee the production of event materials in collaboration with the Director of Special Events & Parents Association Liaison.
- Work with the Admission Office to develop and execute the enrollment marketing plan, and create and produce all materials needed as indicated in the marketing plan, including:
- Advertising plan
- Content for website and social media
- Viewbook or other handouts for Open Houses and Information Sessions
- Signage, banners, and other promotional materials for events
- Review MBS newsletters and email communications for accuracy and to ensure clear communications to the community.
- Manage the Marketing and Communications budget.
- Promote consistent communications, messaging, and branding as appropriate, across all departments.
- Implement strategic plan goals related to marketing and communications.
- Oversee and maintain the Crisis Communications Plan, serving as the liaison to the PR firm and being the main point of contact in all communications.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with local media outlets.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in marketing and/or communications
- Minimum of 5 years experience with management experience preferably in the education sector or related field
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to create compelling content for diverse audiences (ie. alumni, parents, donors, faculty & staff)
- Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience interacting with the media and with magazine publication, creation, design, and layout a plus
