Job description
Research Intern, Cellular Engineering
Responsibilities:
- Performing routine cell culture of primary immune cells and cell line cultures, preparing media, initiating cell cultures, propagating cells, and cryopreserving using aseptic technique.
- Assessing the phenotype of T cells and cell lines by multicolor flow cytometry including sample preparation, staining, data acquisition, and data analysis.
- Genetic engineering using RNA, viral vectors, DNA plasmids, or CRISPR of primary immune cells and cell lines.
- In vitro functional immune assays utilizing engineered TCR T-Cells.
- Keep an organized record of each experiment performed, including information on experimental setup, data analysis, and interpretation.
- Disseminate experimental results in a timely manner and regularly present at group meetings as appropriate.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years or older.
- Pursuing a BS in Immunology, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a closely related field a t an accredited university/college with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Must have completed at least one year of study at an accredited university/college prior to internship commencing.
- Must be able to complete a 10-12 consecutive week internship between June and September.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Must not be employed at the time the internship start .
Preferred Requirements:
- Prior lab-based research experience in working with cell culture in a Biosafety Cabinet (BSC), particularly working with immune cells, is preferred.
- The ability to multitask and perform job responsibilities in a timely manner within a fast-paced environment
- The capacity to think critically and solve problems with some supervision
- Conducts duties in an organized manner with a strong attention to detail
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
