Crop Transformation Facility (CTF) Construct Assembly Technician Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology Job Summary This position's primary function will be the construction and validation of plasmids for plant transformation.
Duties & Responsibilities - Construction and validation of DNA constructs
- Organizing and maintaining chemical and biological stocks
- Lab documentation and maintenance of construct stages in the relevant databases
- Preparation and maintenance of media/buffers/reagents/stock solutions
- Distributing plasmids between RIPE members
- Updating and communicating the status of orders
Additional Physical Demands Environmental Demands: Willingness to perform routine repetitive tasks in a laboratory with non-hazardous materials.
Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Biology or related discipline Experience: Experience in molecular cloning, PCR, restriction digest
Preferred Qualifications Education: Master's degree in Molecular Biology or related discipline
Experience: Experience in Golden-Gate cloning and/or automated liquid handling automation
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Knowledge of molecular cloning, PCR, lab documentation, excellent organizational skills, excellent communication skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
Preferred: Knowledge of electronic lab notebooks (Benchling), Sanger sequencing/sequence alignments, and automation techniques.
Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after close date. The minimum salary for this position is $48,000 and is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
