Job description

Purslane Catering–the first zero-waste caterer in New York–is seeking a Lead Driver, who will be responsible for overseeing the complete and successful packout and delivery of necessary materials to on-site catering events. They will ensure the timely transportation of required food, proofers, plateware, equipment, beverage, and other materials from our Brooklyn commissary kitchen to events at various citywide venues. They will also be responsible for the pickup of materials after the end of the event, ensuring that all waste returns to our kitchen to be recycled and composted through our zero-waste program. They will restock and maintain up-to-date inventory on returned materials, as well as incoming beverage and dry goods.

Required qualifications:

• Clean driving record and background check
• Professional, proactive, and flexible attitude
• Experience operating large vehicles while navigating traffic patterns and routes through all New York City boroughs 
• Able to maintain strong attention to detail and organization under pressure
• Fluent in verbal and written English
• Able to stand for long periods of time and lift 50+ lbs, including overhead
• Event warehouse and kitchen operation experience
• Experience reading Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) or similar event delivery outlines
• Understanding of general warehouse management and inventory systems
• Working knowledge of wine, high-end spirits, and basic cocktails preferred
• Some Spanish proficiency preferred

This role requires evening and weekend availability, and working hours are flexible based on need and event scheduling throughout the year.
