Job description
BAE Systems is hiring a Data Scientist to join our Ship Repair team in Norfolk, VA. The role will support Planning in creating more efficient workflow and predictive models for end-users using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools, and conduct statistical analysis to create predictive forecasting for operational purposes. He/she will extract and maintain historical and existing project data to support program planning, solicitation, management, and control of multi-million dollar Department of Defense (DoD) ship repair projects. He/she regularly coordinates with Finance, Contracts, Project Management, and Senior Management teams to set up and review proper inter-departmental data processes and enterprise-level reporting. The role prepares ad hoc reports and analyses as required.
Location/Schedule/Travel:
- This role will work 100% onsite in Norfolk, VA.
- The team works Monday-Friday with a start time anywhere between 7AM-8AM.
- There may be less than 10% travel annually.
Responsibilities:
- Manage, maintain, and analyze enterprise-level Earned Value Management System (EVMS) data for Norfolk Ship Repair.
- Track progress of financial, schedule, technical, and/or new business performance objectives.
- Prepare, develop, and maintain business-wide data analytics reports.
- Produce and review ad-hoc project-level projections, graphs, and reports for both internal/external stakeholders.
- Support new business development activities and participate in developing strategic and financial plans for assigned business area.
- Support the development and implementation of Application Programming Interface (APIs), data warehousing, data structures, and databases to streamline and maintain processes.
- Streamline data collection, modeling, and management practices.
- Lead techno-functional problems, recommending solutions and improvements.
- Support compliance with contractual requirements and internal procedures.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills - Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of experience or equivalent experience
- Experience in Business Systems / Data Analytics and Visualization (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
- Experience in Data Query Languages (SQL, PowerQuery M, or similar)
- Experience in mathematical / statistical modeling
- Experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook)
- Ability to develop/improve Application Programming Interface (APIs), data warehousing, data structures, or databases to streamline processes
- Ability to support techno-functional problem solving and process improvements
- Ability to support program management integration and control strategies
- Ability to work cross-functionally with technical and functional departments
- Ability to support decision-making and conflict resolution
- Ability to work and communicate with a diverse group
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong data analytics and reporting skills
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills - Experience in Techno-Functional, Systems Implementation, Systems Administrator, or similar roles
- Experience in developing data warehousing solutions to streamline performance monitoring, data analytics, and reporting capabilities
- Experience in Project Management and Controls or Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
- Experience in Defense (DoD), Government Contracting, Maritime, or Navy
- Experience in Construction Management industry
Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $83900 - $142600
