We are seeking a talented and experienced Category Manager for analyzing industry, customer, and consumer trends. This role demands close collaboration with marketing, product development, sales, and sourcing functions to optimize our product offerings through effective product range management. Key to success in this position are effective communication and a deep understanding of marketing, merchandising, and sales principles.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Product Category Strategy:
- Develop and implement comprehensive product category strategies aligned with overall business goals.
- Achieve the correct product offerings across the entire organization using all methods possible, both qualitative and quantitative.
- Conduct market research to identify trends, assess competitive offerings, and customer preferences.
- Utilize customer feedback and data analytics to inform product category strategies, ensuring alignment with consumer preferences and behavior trends.
- Identify product line gaps and opportunities, along with potential "all new" categories and work with product development teams and sales to develop and launch new products/product lines.
- Work with demand planning and sales to identify obsolete products to phase out efficiently.
- Analyze sales data to optimize product assortment and pricing strategies.
Marketing and Promotion:
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create and execute marketing campaigns that support product launches and drive sales.
- Help develop long-term development strategies for product categories and product roadmap.
- Develop exit strategies for unsuccessful products and categories.
Merchandising:
- Monitor and analyze sales performance to identify opportunities for product merchandising improvements.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, logistics, and finance, to ensure seamless execution of category strategies.
- Actively participate in cross-functional teams to drive product innovation, working closely with product development, sales, and marketing to identify and develop new product opportunities that meet evolving market needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- BA/BS preferred
- 3-5 years of proven Category Manager/Product Management experience, preferably in the wholesale home goods or consumer products industry.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret sales performance data.
- Ability to think from a consumer perspective and understand buying behavior.
- Manages diverse relationships, motivates others and has excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic working environment.
