Engineering Manager– $100,000 - $115,000
Catoosa, OK
Responsibilities
- Serves as the Wet Cooling department’s senior design and engineering person.
- Coordinates, plans and manages design and engineering for all Wet Cooling projects under the supervision of the Director of Operations.
- Determines and maintains proper in-house, contract and subcontract resources necessary for timely and cost effective performance of all design activities necessary to support project execution.
- Leads the design team in the development of the Wet Cooling projects’ design criteria and design work scopes.
- Assists in assembling and managing schedules, labor estimates and budgets for the design department.
- Provides technical and administrative direction to the above resources to maintain project costs within budget.
- Creates, monitors and reports schedule and cost status of activities to project management.
- Assumes decision-making responsibility and elevates design risks, exposures and other appropriate issues to senior management.
- Solves design-related problems and handles conflict resolution.
- Ensures conformance to all relevant company standards and procedures, and contract requirements.
- Provides guidance to the Department's project engineering staff.
- Assumes responsibility for personnel management of direct reports to include performance reviews, performance counseling, talent development, etc.
- Ensures the structural adequacy of Wet Cooling projects and their conformance with applicable codes.
- Participates as requested by Sales in proposal review to ensure minimum technical standards are met.
- Communicates changes in design standards with Sales to ensure cost estimates reflect current standard design practices.
- Participates with intercompany design and engineering departments to balance workloads, resources, achieve schedules, and optimize talent utilization for the best possible product line benefit.
- Coordinates subcontracting of engineering services as needed for EOR (Engineer Of Record) or calculation packages when not available from internal resources. Interface with clients for clarification, collaboration, delivery of documents for all technical aspects of project execution in full coordination with project management functions.
- Maintains a working knowledge of product components and develops relationships with key suppliers.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or closely related degree from an accredited institution.
- Ability to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate the design and engineering of large and complex projects.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to give direction, adapt to change, establish and develop relationships, and work in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to successfully manage personnel, providing leadership, mentoring, coaching and guidance.
- Ability to negotiate, manage through conflict and complexity, and problem-solve issues to resolution.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Proficiency with CAD platforms AutoCAD and Solidworks.
- Minimum 8 years' design and engineering experience on major infrastructure projects.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a management/supervisory role.
