NDS Mesa Machine Maintenance Technician

Nammo Defense Systems Inc., a defense contractor, manufactures and supports shoulder-fired systems; energetic material solutions such as aircraft emergency escape systems, actuation devices, rocket motors, warheads, medium & large caliber ammunitions, mortar ammunition; and composite solutions including carbon fiber tubes and composite aero-structures.

At Nammo Defense Systems, we take seriously our core values of Precision, Dedication and Care. We are currently seeking a Machine Maintenance Technician to join our Equipment Maintenance team.

Position Summary:

Nammo is seeking a Machine Maintenance Technician to join the Equipment Maintenance team at the Nammo Defense Mesa, Arizona site. The Machine Maintenance Technician will be responsible for repairs, maintenance and assists as directed in more complex performance and repair of plant equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Rebuild various machines such as presses, mixers, filament winders, casting, and powder processing equipment. 
• Fabricate fixtures and safety shielding. 
• Perform mig tig and stick welding operations.
• Use oxy acetylene cutting torches as well as plasma cutting.
• Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts.
• Installation of air and vacuum lines.
• Installation of new equipment.
• Machine drill and tap various fixtures per request of Mechanical engineers.
• Coordinate and perform removal of equipment to be repaired off site, transport to and from various facilities using hoists, dollies, rollers, and truck. 
• Perform preventive maintenance on various equipment such as air dryers, air compressors, hydraulic pumps, vacuum pumps, and manufacturing machines. 
• Assist all other trades in the performance of their duties.
• Orders and stocks building supplies, materials and parts as required
• Plans and schedules preventative maintenance and responds to reactive maintenance as needed. 
• Oversees vendors and contractors to determine that work is correctly performed and completed in a safe and timely manner
• Gathers information to provide recommendations on requested improvements/modifications to Department Manager including cost estimates, designs, scope-of-work, timing and funding
• Maintain accurate records in CMMS system
• May be required to respond to 24-hour emergency calls to perform building and equipment repairs during non-business hours
• Uses power tools as directed
• Troubleshoots equipment or problems and reports to lead or supervisor
• Moves machinery and equipment.
• Performs routine vehicle/machinery maintenance
• Other duties as required

Required Experience & Skills:

• 5-10 years of related experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50lbs
• Driving background checks required
Ability to focus on detailed work with a 100% accuracy expectation of results
• Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to accurately write reports and speak effectively with other employees
• Proficient in ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
• Ability to obtain BATF approval to engage in certain explosive operations
