Position Title: Volunteer & Projects Manager (Full-time, Salary, Exempt)
Job Description:
The Volunteer and Projects Manager directly implements Haven House’s volunteer program including recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers. Related activities include developing and marketing volunteer positions, participating in the coordination of the shelter’s food system, and engaging with community partners for special events in support of the agency mission. The Volunteer & Projects Manager implements effective digital communications practices as well as planning, organizing, and guiding the completion of specific projects and programs. The Volunteer and Projects Manager works in a collaborative way with their supervisor as well as other staff and organizational stakeholders to provide meaningful service opportunities to community members that benefit our clients.
Essential job functions as a Volunteer & Projects Manager includes:
Volunteer Activities
- Lead and manage all volunteer activities, including volunteer recruitment, screening, orientation, scheduling, training, and supervision
- Assist in management of volunteer software program
- Respond to volunteer inquiries via phone and email
- Attend volunteer recruitment events
- Assist in development of digital/print materials for outreach and training
- Provide continuous quality improvement to volunteer program to develop and strengthen volunteer support
- Plan and supervise individual and group volunteer activities
- Monitor and evaluate volunteer performance and experience
- Supervise student intern(s) in conjunction with other staff
Food Provision
- Plan meals and ensure adequate provisions available
- Store and manage inventory of groceries
- Monitor and ensure safe food storage, labeling and handling
- Assist in procuring and staging food for client meals
In-kind Donations
- Assist in managing Adopt-a-Child & Adopt-a-Family seasonal programs
Other
- In partnership with other staff, assist in performance of basic shelter and office functions
- Perform other duties as needed and assigned by the Community Engagement Director
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm, including some evenings and weekends. Schedule is flexible to meet 40-hour work week and any changes will be discussed with direct supervisor.
Holidays: Paid time off for holidays which fall on regularly scheduled workdays.

Compensation: $45,000-$50,000 annually based on education and qualifications with additional performance-based bonus plan.
Education and other Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's Degree in relevant field preferred
- Volunteer management experience: Minimum of 1 year preferred
Skills:
- Interpersonal and communication skills to work with the population of volunteers
- Supervision and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently
- Effective organization and time management skills
- Working knowledge of databases
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds at times
- Must be able to access and navigate different areas of the shelter including second floor residential areas and lower level communal and storage areas
Additional Requirements:
- Pass criminal background check
- Valid Driver's License
