Summary The Director of Procurement and Strategic Sourcing will drive the procurement strategy and initiatives for the Protective Packaging Solutions (PPS), and Automation Solutions businesses to achieve cost savings, drive supplier quality and delivery performance, and ensure supply chain continuity through risk mitigation. This individual will lead a team of seven procurement professionals, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and establish strong supplier relationships.
This role will support the North America (NOAM) business developing and executing procurement strategic and annual sourcing plans reporting to the Managing Director, NOAM. The role will have regional responsibility for a combined $70M of paper, machines, parts, and accessories purchases driving competitive supply strategies to achieve lowest total cost and single source elimination. This role will develop and oversee a supplier performance system to support the business, ensure supply continuity and reduce working capital while ensuring compliance with company business policies and procedures, export /import regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Partner with functional stakeholders and business leadership to understand business strategy, business objectives, and product requirements and specifications.
- Management and leadership of PPS and Automation Buyers
- Develop procurement supply standards working with the quality, engineering, and operations functions.
- Establish, analyze, and optimize the business’s raw materials and paper equipment procurement strategy ensuring alignment with annual business plan, product roadmaps and launch timelines.
- Lead initial market evaluation and vendor profiles to aid supplier selection globally and in partnership with the European Procurement team for PPS.
- Create, issue, and manage RFPs, SOWs, and MSAs. Manage proposal evaluation and final vendor selection.
- Facilitate strategic sourcing and manage the RFP timeline.
- Use supplier relationship management best practices throughout negotiation, contracting, onboarding and renewal.
- Conduct regular vendor performance and quality evaluations, and supplier risk assessments for continuity of supply. Agree and track KPIs.
- Ensure suppliers are and remain compliant with various federal and regional compliance regulations, as required for the categories they supply to Ranpak.
- Understand and communicate key supplier technology roadmaps and share to the broader organization, supporting a global commodity strategy.
- Collect and interpret procurement data including cost analysis reporting.
- Benchmark spend, RFP data and return on investment.
- Perform regular reviews of established procurement processes to ensure continual improvement.
- Refine policies, due diligence questionnaires and RFP and subsequent contract templates with legal.
- Lead procurement activities for products during the development process (NPI), as well as ongoing lifecycle management
- ‘Business Process Owner’ for the procurement and material purchasing related processes and data accuracy (P2P, Vendor Master, Material Master, MRP) in SAP
- Develop supply plans and category strategies to achieve cost savings and improve quality and service levels by identifying opportunity areas such as product standardization and supplier consolidation

Qualifications - Undergraduate degree in business, engineering, supply chain or operations.
- A minimum of 5 years of strategic sourcing experience in packaging equipment, industrial manufacturing, or e-commerce.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing procurement strategy.
- Excellent contracting and procurement negotiating skills and methodology in a global context.
- Knowledge of sourcing processes and tools, such as SAP and e-sourcing platforms
- Cross-functional experience in engineering/technology, operations, sales/marketing
- Proven history of relationship and conflict management
- Strategic thinking and creative problem solving
- Strong communication and collaboration with peer group and senior leadership
