Job Description and Duties
Our Global Fixed Income (GFI) group is currently seeking an Investment Manager (IM) to provide credit research analysis, portfolio recommendations and drive our CalPERS mission.
Under the direction of the Investment Director Credit Research and Strategy, the IM will be the primary credit analyst responsible for the credit investment across one or more sectors of the Corporate Index (i.e., Bank & Finance, Telecom, Media, and Technology, Utilities, etc.). The IM will provide credit research analysis and portfolio recommendations to GFI management and have back-up portfolio management responsibilities.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Primary Credit analyst responsible for credit investments.
- Quantitative and qualitative analysis of risk and return for assigned companies.
- Implementation of a GFI research and strategy.
Telework Information : This position is eligible for hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.

- Corporate finance professional with solid credit and analytical background; assess financial data, identify trends, and make informed credit decisions.
- Ability to make well-informed and timely decisions based on thorough analysis and assessment of credit risk factors.
- Knowledge of risk mitigation strategies and the ability to balance risk and reward.
- Previous experience operating a credit fund of scale.
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with clients, other departments, and external stakeholders.
- Precision and attention to detail when reviewing financial documents and conducting risk assessments.
- Understanding of relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements in the industry and region in which the sector operates.
- Strong leadership abilities to effectively manage and lead a team of credit analysts.
- Excellent communication skills to present findings and recommendations effectively.
