The Community Engagement Program Officer is responsible for promoting high-quality community engagement efforts, inclusive of volunteerism, donations, sponsorship, and other forms of client and community partnerships throughout Colorado. This position has responsibilities related to community outreach and engagement, volunteerism and sponsorship, social media oversight, data tracking, and report writing. An important prerequisite for this position is the ability to work out in the community to communicate with immigrant newcomers and to build new partnerships with service providers. The position will be based out of the Fort Collins office, with statewide virtual and remote work components. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- In collaboration with the Office Director, serve as lead for community engagement activities; support the Office Director with planning and implementing engagement events.
- Create and implement an effective local community engagement strategy for the benefit of the community and CWS clients. Community engagement includes general support of CWS mission and clients, outreach for volunteers, in-kind donations, and co-sponsorship of IRC clients by community-based groups, including but not limited to businesses, universities, civic and faith-based organizations.
- Create and maintain a tracking system for tracking volunteer hours and donations. Maintain accurate and up-to-date tracking documentation. Assist with reporting volunteer and donations records for grant reports, newsletters, and other publications; Ensure timely and accurate compliance with all reporting requirements.
- Recruit, onboard, and train volunteers; collaborate with direct service staff in coordinating the placement and activities of volunteers and the distribution of donations; supervise and coordinate volunteers in all donations-related activities, including the coordination of appreciation events.
- Develop and facilitate group volunteer and donation events and opportunities to leverage community interest including solicitation, distribution, valuation, and tracking of in-kind donations, ensuring appropriate documentation and maintaining up-to-date records.
- Assist with the planning and facilitation of events, including open houses, World Refugee Day events, fundraising galas, film festivals, and other community engagement events.
- Maintain and strengthen strategic partnerships with local community organizations and stakeholders. Speak to community groups, congregations, and other organizations about the work of CWS.
- Coordinate local social media pages, including updating the website, Facebook, and Instagram accounts; assist with creating and distributing donor newsletters.
Other related duties as assigned.
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4 year university.
Experience:
- 2+ years’ experience with volunteer coordination or community engagement in a non-profit or related setting.
- Experience developing promotional and marketing materials for external use;
Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to speak in front of large audiences and present information in a clear manner;
- Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills; ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse partners and teams;
- Ability to conduct oneself in a professional and courteous manner at all times to represent the professional and institutional interests of CWS to an external audience;
- Knowledge and experience in working with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Salesforce, Photoshop, Canva or related programs;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to manage a large and diverse workload under pressure and with competing priorities;
- Ability to maintain a high-performance standard with attention to detail;
- Excellent project and data management skills;
