CHI St. Alexius Health is a regional health network with a tertiary hospital in Bismarck, the system also consists of critical access hospitals (CAHs) in Carrington, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Garrison, Turtle Lake, Washburn and Williston and numerous clinics and outpatient services. JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE
Responsible for advancing clinical practice and improving patient outcomes through the effective integration and
utilization of clinical information systems in the practice environment. Collaborate with clinical and technology leaders
in the planning, design, build, testing, implementation, stabilization, and ongoing evaluation and optimization of clinical
information systems. Ensure proper evaluation of workflow’s and process improvement/integration with any new
implementations or system modifications. Lead the execution of the strategic clinical informatics departmental
objectives outlined by the Divisional Clinical Informatics Director.
ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides operational leadership and input into strategic planning to the director.
Performs payroll functions, time off, and manages staff schedules.
Coordinates new product /version upgrade and refresher training.
Coordinates implementation and testing plan for new product/version upgrade to include areas of clinician
workflow, software functionality, and device utilization
Coordinates support and problem resolution for end users.
Assists users with the analysis, research, evaluation of workflow and documentation options to improve patient
care and workflow.
Supervises design, build, and implementation teams for new product/upgrade installation and daily operations.
Identifies areas of noncompliance or concerns, and maintains compliance with all State, Joint Committee, NPSG,
meaningful use requirement, and other internal and external regulatory standards.
Ensure the strategic goals and objectives of the clinical informatics department are on target in terms of
timeliness, quality and budget by frequently monitoring and employing mitigation and correction strategies.
Collaborate with management to provide appropriate and ongoing communication and reporting to key
stakeholders and end users regarding clinical information systems.
Partner with the Divisional Training Manager, and informatics Project Manager to ensure projects and
enhancements are successfully deployed.
Assures staff and self-positive behaviors, approaches, attitude, and commitment to service toward patients,
visitors, physicians and/or co-workers.
Oversees writing/revision and distribution of policies and procedures as necessary and according to approved
format with evidence/research articles cited for all policies and procedures.
Performs duties in a cost effective manner, striving to avoid wasting hospital resources without jeopardizing
quality of care and service.
Counsels and disciplines staff when necessary and involve Director as appropriate.
Assists in the interview and hiring of new employees.
Assures orientation for all department staff is complete by due date. Updates all orientation material. Conducts
performance reviews.
Coordinates project list and department goals to ensure assignment of responsibility and adequate timeline for
completion.
Coordinates computer downtime procedures so they are up to date and operational for patient care for all
clinicians that utilize EHR.

Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 3
years leadership experience OR minimum of 5 years leadership
experience in the discipline OR Master’s Degree and no experience
Active Clinical Licensure, RN, PharmD, Radiology Tech, RT, MLS.
Five (5) years of clinical experience.
Five (5) years of Information Systems Experience with Epic/EMR
