Overview
The Assistant Director of Nursing assists the Director of Nursing Services in providing leadership for the nursing Department. Coordinates Infection Control surveillance and works with analysts in Outcomes Management and Employee Health to improve policy/process/protocol performance and to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
Someone with an RN license is highly preferred in this role.

ResponsibilitiesINSERVICE EDUCATION DUTIES: Confers with management and staff to assess needs. Oversees in-service program content, staff competencies and competence to ensure compliance with facility and regulatory compliance. Coordinates and/or conducts in-service program and/or facility specific orientations for new employees. Acts as liaison with SJRHC Education Services Department and other non-facility resources.
INFECTION CONTROL DUTIES: Develops, implements and updates infection control program and processes to include infection control practice, isolation procedures, aseptic techniques, removal of infectious and contaminated materials and related activities. Ensures proper understanding and application of Standard Precaution Procedure throughout the facility. Prepares summaries of resident and employee infections and the corrective/precaution actions initiated and procedure related in-service training. Ensures that resident with infectious diseases are placed in isolation and ensures employees follow established precautions. Coordinates resident chart review to ensure detection for nosocomial, communicable and other reportable diseases. Acts as liaison with SJRHC Infection Control Practice and Employee Health Nurse.
OPERATIONAL DUTIES: Monitors day-to-day operations providing performance feedback, evaluates resident activity and available staff and redirects job assignments as needed to ensure units are staffed with appropriate number of qualified personnel. Conducts regular rounds to ensure equipment is working properly, areas are clean, safe, and orderly and hazardous conditions addressed appropriately. Investigates and resolves employee and resident complaints or makes recommendation to address situation in an effective, fair, and timely manner. Assumes Director of Nursing duties in the event of his/her absence. Performs other duties as needed to ensure smooth operation and appropriate resident care.
Maintains ICP qualifications through ongoing education and training as determined by the Director of Infection Control.
QualificationsRequired Education:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Required Licensure & Certifications:
RN is Highly Preferred
Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN); BLS
