The Literacy and Outreach Program Manager will coordinate programs on children’s literacy and conduct outreach to help strengthen literacy and ensure equitable engagement of the community in library programs and services. They will cultivate relationships with key strategic partners and community collaborators to deliver children’s literacy development programs especially for underserved communities and children English language learners. The Program Manager will deliver literacy and outreach in English and Spanish and connect with the community, children, and families in both languages.
One of the main programs under their leadership will be the coordination of the Reading Buddies Program, a core library program to strengthen literacy skills and promote a passion for reading in young children in first through 3rd grade. The library partners with Colorado University (CU)-Boulder and community volunteers, and for part of the program, University Hill Elementary School. Each child participant is matched with a CU student, their Big Buddy, and the pairs meet weekly during an academic semester to practice reading, writing and literacy activities. The Program Manager may also coordinate other library literacy programs and/or events to reach the library’s literacy and community engagement goals.
Required schedule and locations: Up to two to three evenings and one weekend shift per week. Local travel will be required to multiple sites as needed within Boulder Country.
