Surgical Technology Instructor (Part-Time)
Location: Provo, UT
Status: Part-time
Hours: Monday – Thursday, 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Pay / Hourly: $28.30
SUMMARY
As a Surgical Technology Instructor you will join a team of dedicated educators who are passionate about helping new surgical technology students acquire the skills that are necessary to fully participate as a member of a surgical team.

SURGICAL TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide effective instruction and facilitate student learning for the program.
Work with other faculty and administrators to build and/or maintain curriculum with clear learning objectives. This includes textbook and software selection.
Develop and/or maintain lesson plans and supplemental instructional materials for classroom and lab activities
Schedule, supervise, debrief, and evaluate students in lab, clinical, externship, or other work-based learning activities
Mentor students, providing regular feedback on progress, with the central goal of the program being student success. This includes completion of the program, successfully passing any required licensure or certification tests, and placement in related employment.
Update student progress, rolls, and academic improvement plans as required.
Utilize the Learning Management System and orient new students to it.
SURGICAL TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTOR QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
This/these individual(s) should hold a current, surgical technology-specific credential that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA) in addition to any other credentials a person may currently retain and/or are required by the sponsoring institution, institutional accreditor(s), and/or state approval agency, if applicable.
Minimum of three years of recent experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist. Experience may include in the operating room in the scrub role or two [2] years of current experience as an instructor of surgical technology or a combination of both.
Prior teaching experience is preferred.
The only surgical technology-specific credentials that are accredited by the NCCA are the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential and the joint Certified Surgical Technologist/Certified Surgical First Assistant (CST /CSFA) credential.
