Job description
Overview The gift shop coordinator position requires core competencies in the retail store operations, visual merchandising, customer service and selling, working with volunteers, inventory management, and merchandise assortment planning. The coordinator is accountable for achieving all sales/service and financial goals associated with the store. In collaboration with the Retail Manager bring strong merchandise assortment. Must be comfortable with retail financial goals, financial reports, management of inventory as delivered, point of sales system, training of volunteers and paid staff
Responsibilities Core Responsibilites and Essential Functions
- Sales & Service Management
* Understands and follow customer service standards and expectations as directed by Manager of Retail.
* Effectively implements priorities as directed to achieve stales and service goals. - Human Resource Management
* Ability to work effectively with others.
* Ability to train volunteers and paid part time employees
* Ability to maintain compassionate care with customers and volunteers - Retail Operations and Administration
* Point of Sales management
* Maintains overall store operations and ensures store security
* Maintains technical knowledge as needed for store equipment ructions and operations
* Ensures timely and accurate completion of daily paperwork, company directives and administrative tasks.
* Addresses maintenance issue in a timely manner
* Creates and sustains a safe work environment
* Maintains an organized, efficient office area and filing system - Inventory/Merchandise Management
* Assists Retail Manager with buying decisions
* Purchase order management and maintenance
* Assists with vendor relations and negotiation
* Ensures proper inventory management and replenishment
* Communicates assortment suggestions, revisions, additions as per customer requests and sales fluctuations.
* Ensures that products on sales floor is properly tagged
* Verifies merchandise count and records any product overages/shortages or damages on receiving document.
* Enters completed receiving documents into the system in a timely and accurate manner
* Contacts vendors to resolve disputes regarding discrepancies in shipments - Visual Merchandising/Marketing
* Maintains appealing visual store presentation through: displays, signage, store cleanliness, product and fixture placement.
* Ensures product on sales floor is appropriately restocked to positively affect sales opportunities.
* Ensures daily store maintenance expectations are established and maintained
* Executes advertising and promotional plans as directed

Qualifications Required Minimum Education
- High school diploma Required and
- Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Required Minimum Experience
- Minimum 2 years 3 years retail management experience Required and
- Specialty store experience Preferred
Required Minimum Skills
- Competent in Microsoft systems and a strong understanding of retail POS systems required
