Transportation Planner
Midland Area Transportation Study (MATS) is seeking a full-time Planner to assist in management of Midland Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) with principal responsibility for transportation planning, technical and administrative tasks.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, engineering, public administration, or related field. Two or more years of progressively responsible experience required. Effective verbal and written communication skills, good knowledge of Microsoft Office software, Squarespace and ArcGIS.
Well versed in planning processes and practices. Highly organized, detail-oriented and adept at coordinating multiple priorities. Ability to manage work tasks effectively and meet firm deadlines. Valid Michigan driver’s license required.
Typical Duties:
Assists in preparation of various documents and reports (including analysis and technical writing).
Acts as MATS liaison with federal, state and local agencies.
Participates in MPO-related meetings, prepares meeting minutes.
Responsible for maintaining MATS website, development of maps and graphics, public outreach.
Programs transportation improvement projects.
Conducts annual road surface condition ratings, coordinates HPMS and Traffic Count Programs.
Compensation Package:
At-Will Employee. Full-time position (40 hours per week); compensation based upon qualifications, $45,000 to $60,000 per year.
Paid Holidays (14 days per year) and PTO (15 days per year). SEP IRA retirement benefits provided by MATS after 3 years of employment.
Health/long-term disability/life insurance benefits up to $8,000 per year. Short-term disability protection plan provided by MATS.
