Job description

The Department of Chemistry at Carthage College invites applications for a tenure-track position in organic chemistry starting August 2024. Candidates from all areas of organic chemistry are encouraged to apply.

Teaching responsibilities include Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry, and courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Chemistry and a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, developing a productive research program incorporating undergraduate students, and supporting a diverse student population.

The Chemistry Department is ACS certified and has recently moved into a newly renovated science center. Our equipment includes a 400-MHz NMR, GC-MS, HPLC, GC, FTIR, DLS, MP-AES, and UV/VIS. The Carthage faculty is firmly committed to the liberal arts tradition and interdisciplinary work. Carthage also offers small class sizes, start-up funds for research, conference travel, and the opportunity to teach, mentor, and advise diverse undergraduates at a liberal arts college.
