Job Summary:
Under minimal direction and guidance, coordinates, facilitates and/or performs activities within the discipline of Product Stewardship and Compliance. Works daily with company software and business systems. Responsible for independently delivering on a range of activities, such as facilitating new ingredient qualification, maintaining Safety Data Sheets, facilitating product governance and compliance activities, leveraging company business systems for product stewardship initiatives, and analyzing impact of emerging issues/ supply chain changes. Has a deepening understanding and application of data science and compliance. Communicates effectively with peers, management, suppliers, external laboratories, consulting partners and coworkers in international markets.
About the Role:
•Applies an advanced understanding of the core principals of Product Stewardship and Compliance to analyze the impact of emerging issues/ supply chain changes as related to ingredients, formulas and other items marketed by Mary Kay Inc. Facilitates information related to product governance and compliance activities, including leveraging company business systems. Anticipates potential issues and proposes risk-based solutions. Proactively seeks input and consultation with supervisor and/or others on non-standard or new technical issues.
•Facilitates ingredient and/or formula qualification process, partnering across R&D and Purchasing organizations. Demonstrates independence when working on new ingredients/formulas with moderate complexity. Clearly communicates and prepares presentations on status, challenges, and other needed information to R&D and cross-functional partners. Proactively works with external vendors to ensure accurate information.
•Executes on both routine tasks and more complex activities to meet regulatory requirements. Navigates project ambiguity with agility to meet project timelines. Proficient in drafting and managing the Safety Data Sheet program, supporting and/or participating in industry trade association activities. Demonstrate the ability to analyze ingredient/formula information in company business systems, and/or preparing and problem-solving regulatory support documents for products.
•Participates in activities and projects to support broader department/R&D goals, such as continuous improvement projects with complexity. May be responsible for leading detailed continuous improvement initiatives to streamline practices. Consistently makes continuous improvement recommendations, including novel approaches. Collaborates across R&D on projects and initiatives to accomplish team objectives. Influences the broader organization and demonstrates strong partnerships with others.
•Works under minimal direction on moderately complex specialized projects/initiatives while demonstrating independence in project execution. These projects may support the advancement of novel safety methodologies, new product categories, or new technologies/innovations. Independently leads small initiatives to support business continuity where possible.
This job requires on-site work at a Mary Kay facility.
Skills & Experience:
Education:Bachelor/University Degree in Data science, Biology, Chemistry or other technical field
Experience:3+ years with consumer goods company or other applicable experience.
Additional Skills & Abilities:
•Must have ability to become proficient with company software and business systems and data management.
•Must have full proficiency at technical writing and communication, including oral presentations and reports.
•Must be able to independently manage multiple projects with minimal guidance from supervisor.
•Must have an advanced knowledge of the core principals of product stewardship and global compliance.
•Must have ability to make sound technical or scientific judgments within scope of role.
•Demonstrates ability to effectively lead self and technical teams. May participate in external trade industry associations.
•Demonstrates ability to collaborate and build partnerships across R&D departments and cross-functionally to accomplish project and initiative objectives.
•Demonstrates ability to troubleshoot processes that may require developing new options to solve moderately complex problems.
•Demonstrate ability to coach junior technical staff and work within undefined processes.
