Position Description
Title: Sr. Compensation Specialist
Department: Total Rewards
Immediate Supervisor: VP, Total Rewards & HR Systems
Status: Exempt
Position Purpose
The Compensation Specialist Sr. is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the organization's compensation programs. This role involves analyzing market trends, ensuring competitive pay practices, and collaborating with HR and business leaders to support the attraction, retention, and motivation of employees.
Principle Accountabilities
- Conduct regular market surveys and analysis to assess the competitiveness of the organization's compensation programs.
- Create and manage job description library and partner with the business to create new job descriptions.
- Conduct job evaluations to determine appropriate job classifications and salary ranges.
- Leverage Comp Analyst tool to match jobs to the market.
- Recommend and implement grade/structure changes and movement.
- Benchmark positions against industry standards to ensure competitive compensation structures.
- Provide recommendations on annual compensation plans, including merit increases, bonuses, and other incentive programs.
- Manage annual increases company-wide, including supporting hourly general wage increases.
- Manage the annual bonus program and reporting associated with annual bonus programs.
- Partner with the Sales Team annual incentive planning.
- Provide recommendations on salary adjustments based on performance and market trends.
- Develop and manage compensation packages for international assignments, considering tax implications, cost of living adjustments, and other relevant factors.
- Collaborate with legal, payroll and finance teams to ensure compliance with regulations. Annual review of plan documents to ensure compliance.
- Analyze compensation data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Generate reports for senior leadership and HR to support decision-making.
- Communicate changes to compensation programs to employees and provide guidance on compensation-related matters.
- Develop and deliver training programs for HR and managers on compensation best practices.
- Stay informed about compensation trends, legislative changes, and best practices.
- Related duties as assigned.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5 - 7 years of experience in compensation management, some experience in global preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of compensation practices, regulations, and market trends, some experience in global preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in using compensation survey data and analysis tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and adapt to different cultural norms.
- Advanced Excel and HR systems experience. HR systems implementation experience preferred.
