DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for patient simulation and radiation treatment delivery

Delivers radiation therapy treatments to patients as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. Works efficiently throughout the day to maintain department schedules. Explains procedures to patients thoroughly and ensures understanding. Attentive to a patient s side effects and acts as a liaison between patient, nurse and or physician. Reviews each chart for accurate documentation and changes in prescription, written orders, or patient setup parameters. Perform time-out procedure before initiating all treatments and or simulations.

Maintains the appearance of the treatment room throughout the day by keeping the room neat and orderly. Accurately positions patient according to instructions provided in the chart and delivers the prescribed radiation dose and treatment. Correctly documents treatment data in patients daily radiation treatment record and keeps EMR updated. Obtains images at intervals consistent with Physician orders. Assures that all daily/weekly images are reviewed by the attending radiation oncologist. Uses knowledge of EMR system to appropriately schedule patient for simulation procedures, treatment setup and delivery, and to facilitate communication between members of oncology team for treatment planning and procedures.

Responsible for patient simulation

Performs CT simulations as directed by the Radiation Oncologist; to include fabrication of positioning and immobilization devices tattooing and simple beam modification devices, to ensure accurate reproduction of treatment setup. Explains procedures to patients thoroughly and ensures understanding. Attentive to a patient s side effects and acts as a liaison between patient, nurse and or physician. Obtains all pertinent patient information such as diagnostic films, labs and pathology reports prior to the simulation. Applies knowledge of general CT Scanner applications to obtain images for treatment planning. Appropriately and accurately documents patient s treatment position and use of positioning aides, by taking digital photos and writing instructions in the EMR. Coordinate and organize work flow between simulation, dosimetry and treatment. Maintains the appearance of the CT Simulation, Acuity and Control consoles throughout the day by keeping the rooms neat and orderly.

REQUIREMENTS:

Graduate of a JCERT accredited school of radiation therapy. Certification by American Registry of Radiographic Technologist in radiation therapy. C.P.R. certification

Experience: 2-5 years of radiation therapy experience.

Per Diem Rate: $62.10/hour
