Overview
To provide technical expertise and support from an engineering perspective to ensure safe and effective operation, maintenance, and enhancement of RI Energy’s gas distribution network in accordance with the corporate strategic plan.
The position will encompass a range of responsibilities includes providing technical support for project justifications on LNG projects and ensure related work is in compliance with company, State, and Federal policy and regulatory requirements. In addition, the individual is responsible for ensuring other RI Energy business units are provided with the appropriate technical expertise to meet strategic requirements.
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities:
Plan, design, and provide support for the execution of LNG projects-
Reviewing plans/redlining
Writing scopes of work for Engineering Services and Construction Services
Ordering Materials
Tracking and verifying Materials
Creating POs
Paying invoices
Estimating Projects
Budget forecasting
QA/QC during construction
Pre and Post construction visits
Knowledge of RIE Policy and Procedures
Knowledge of Federal Code Title 49 Subtitle B Chapter I Subchapter D Part 193
Internal procedures to be followed (Weld book review, Design Quality Review, Work package creation, etc).
Technical expert to support projects in its entirety or in their specific expertise and provide professional engineering certification (PE Stamp as applicable).
Provide technical assistant on reports in accordance with Regulatory requirements and Company needs
Independently collate and analyze data within one area using pre-determined tools, methods and formats in order to support the department’s decision-making process
Execute instructions and requests, plan and organize resources and make appropriate arrangements to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and in line with relevant policies and processes
Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team of both technical and non-technical professionals
Assist in emergency/storm restoration efforts
Qualifications
Knowledge & Experience Requirements:
Senior Engineer:
Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial, Electrical, or Computer engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school.
At least 6-10 years LNG engineering or equivalent work experience
Knowledge:
Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization to the completion of difficult assignments.
Responsibilities:
Usually works with minimum supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters.
Able to lead team members for projects with low complexity.
Provide technical guidance, support, and coaching to others to share knowledge and develop technical understanding within discipline
Mentor new engineers and interns.
Ability to manage budget for a specific program. Understanding forecasting process.
Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and sharing best practices.
Principal Engineer:
Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial, Electrical, or Computer engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school.
11 plus years of professional experience
Knowledge:
Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of particular field of specialization to the completion of complex assignments.
May cross fields.
Reponsibilities:
Under general supervision, plans, conducts and supervises assignments. Reviews progress and evaluates results.
Plans and assigns personnel for given projects or tasks.
Recommends changes in procedures.
Operates with substantial latitude for un-reviewed action or decision.
Reviews progress with management.
NOTE: Employees selected for this classification will be required to participate in federally mandated drug testing programs prior to selection, randomly on a year round basis, after an accident and for reasonable cause.
