Part-Time Campus Security Officer

Position Title: 2 nd Shift Campus Security Officer
Reports To: Director of Campus Security
Status: Non - Exempt, Part -Time Position
Position Summary
The Hill School is seeking a 2 nd Shift (3pm to 11pm) Campus Security Officer who works three work days for one week and the weekends the other week , and provides personal, equipment, and real property security for students, faculty, staff, and visitors within an assigned area of the campus. Security Officers also provide escort services, and other basic public assistance services as needed, and perform routine security and public safety patrol duties. In an emergency situation security is expected to remain calm and alert.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Primary focus of the 2 nd Shift Campus Security Officer includes b ut are not limited to the following:
- Ensure access through the Gate House is limited to faculty, staff, students, and approved vendors and visitors;
- Patrol campus, either on foot or in a motorized vehicle to ensure the safety and security of Hill property and students, faculty, staff, etc. ;
- Examines doors, windows, and gates to ensure security; uses keys to open and close buildings; monitors closed buildings for unauthorized personnel and/or suspicious activities;
- Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts;
- Completes a log of daily activities and provides "pass-on" information to relief personnel;
- Completes Incident Reports and maintenance Service Request forms;
- Provides escort services for visitors, students, staff, and faculty, as necessary; provides other public assistance , such as lockout services, jump starts, etc.;
- Answers radio calls and/or incoming phone calls via security radio;
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to fingers, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific visual abilities required by a Security Officer include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the tasks of 2 nd Shift Campus Security Officer, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Job Requirements
- Valid Driver's license;
- High school diploma or GED;
- One to three months related experience and/or training, preferred

- Ability to successfully conduct security patrols without direct supervision;
- Ability to communicate effectively;
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle;
- Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures;
- Ability to react calmy and effectively in emergency situations;
- Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel ;
- Ability to multitask under stressful situations
- Previous Public Safety experience, preferred
- CPR, preferred
