Job description
Responsible for preparing and rendering radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic and therapeutic studies, utilizing variety of equipment while following prescribed procedures
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Mixes stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, calculates doses, and administers doses, under direction of physician.
2. Calibrates equipment.
3. Performs diagnostic studies on patients as prescribed by physician, using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce image of organ on photographic film.
4. Measures radioactivity, using Geiger counters, scalers, and scintillation detectors.
5. Administers therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under direction of physician.
6. Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials.
7. Other duties as assigned
Required:
1. HS Diploma or equivalent experience.
2. BS in Nuclear Medicine or Graduate of an approved RT & Nuclear Medicine Program required
3. 1+ years preferred
4. Employment history of working in an office- based setting is preferred LEAD – Specific Certification related to position or Associates Degree/Technical Degree in related field. All licenses and certifications needed to fulfill the duties required of a Technician at the state (s) and/or national level. Top expert and functional mentor; possesses the most advanced knowledge of the function/family and department. Makes decisions regarding daily priorities for a work group; provides guidance to and/or assists staff on non-routine or escalated issues. Collaborates with Management in the development and validation of methods, techniques, and analytical approach. Serves as a model/mentor for team Members on technical skills.
