Summary

Specialty Pharmacy Services supports a growing list of patient populations including Transplant, Hepatitis, Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatology, and Oncology. Our team is dedicated to supporting our patients comprehensively throughout their entire treatment process. We strive to do so by providing timely and continuous financial counseling, clinical education, and mail-order medication deliveries.

Responsibilities*

Pharmacy Technician duties may include:

• Excellent customer service skills and must be patient oriented
• Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
• Enters prescription data into computer
• Proficient with adjudicating insurance claims to PBM
• Maintain call center data base
• Monitor patient profiles for monthly refill renewals
• Prepare compounded medications
• Perform basic metric conversions and calculations,
• Perform cashier functions and prepare medications for shipment
• Assists in the stocking and storage of inventory
• Dependability and punctuality is a must
• Desire and ability to work in a fast paced environment, team player
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required Qualifications*

Pharmacy Technician Associate:

• High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before hire date, verifiable through the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs
• Proficient communication, computer and basic mathematic skills are necessary.
• Must be able to prioritize with accuracy and dependability.

Pharmacy Technician Intermediate:

• High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before hire date, verifiable through the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
• One or more years of relevant pharmacy practice or equivalent experience is necessary.
• Proficient communication, computer and basic mathematic skills are necessary.
• Must be able to prioritize with accuracy and dependability

Pharmacy Technician Senior

• High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before hire date, verifiable through the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs
• Two or more years of relevant pharmacy practice or equivalent experience is necessary.
• Proficient communication, computer and basic mathematic skills are necessary.
• Must be able to prioritize with accuracy and dependability

Desired Qualifications*

• At least one year technician experience or completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program is highly desirable.
• Basic algebra also highly desired.

Licensure & Certification

"The State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) requires all Pharmacy Technicians to be licensed. The new regulations allow for a one-time temporary license for up to 1 year, during which time a Technician must successfully complete requirements to become certified and meet all other State of Michigan requirements for a Full Pharmacy Technician License. UMHS Pharmacy Department provides coaching and additional information to support Technicians to become certified and licensed.

Newly hired pharmacy technicians must obtain a valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before their hire date. This can include a Full Michigan Pharmacy Technician License or a Temporary Michigan Pharmacy Technician License. If a technician obtains a Temporary Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before their date of hire, they must obtain a Full Michigan Pharmacy Technician License within 1 year of hire date or before the Temporary Michigan Pharmacy Technician License expires, whichever is sooner, in order to maintain employment. In addition, All pharmacy technicians must obtain PTCB certification within 6 months of hire date or in time to obtain a Full Michigan Pharmacy Technician License, whichever is sooner, and they must maintain their PTCB certification throughout the duration of employment at UMHS as a Pharmacy Technician.”

Work Schedule

This is a day shift position Monday through Friday with business hours from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Closed weekends and holidays.
