Front-End Development Engineer, AWS Reliability Services

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc.

Location

Herndon, VA | United States

Job description

DESCRIPTION

AWS Fault Injection Service is a fully managed service for running fault injection experiments on AWS that makes it easier to improve an application’s performance, observability, and resiliency. Fault injection experiments are used in chaos engineering, which is the practice of stressing an application in testing or production environments by creating disruptive events, such as sudden increase in CPU or memory consumption, observing how the system responds, and implementing improvements.

The FIS team is seeking a front-end software developer who is passionate about creating beautiful, customer-facing products. Join our team in building innovative web applications that enable customers to setup and run various experiments using the Fault Injection Service to strengthen the resiliency of their services.

Key job responsibilities
You own the Fault Injection Service console which is comprised of the React framework and serverless infrastructure. You work closely with Product Managers and UX designers to build web-based products that are easy to understand and improve the cloud resource management experience for AWS customers. You own customer-facing features from design, implementation, testing, and through deployment. You ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs. You optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability. You collaborate with other team members and stakeholders. You own the quality and operational reliability of the products.

About the team
AWS FIS was launched in early 2021. Since that time the team has now expanded to 5 teams in 3 locations. This is still a relatively new and greenfield service with many great opportunities for innovation.

Mentorship and Career Growth:
Our engineers and leaders come from diverse perspectives and backgrounds across technology and beyond, and are excited to share their experiences and mentor more junior engineers. Team members are encouraged to set up mentorships with senior engineers on our team, but also across the broader Amazon population.

Work-Life Balance:
Our team also puts a high value on work-life balance. Striking a healthy balance between your personal and professional life is crucial to your happiness and success here. We’re happy to offer a flexible schedule so you can have a more productive and well-balanced life—both in and outside of work.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
