Job description

Child Start, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and motivated Assistant Site Supervisor to join our team. As an Assistant Site Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in guiding and overseeing our Head Start sites. You will work closely with the Site Supervisor to ensure compliance with agency policies, state licensing prerequisites, and Head Start/USDA mandates. In addition, you may serve as an interim Site Supervisor during absences or vacancies, showcasing your leadership abilities.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in daily operations of the site, as assigned.
• Coordinate with the Site Supervisors to create an environment that promotes an inclusive, safe work and learning atmosphere.
• Coordinate with the Site Supervisors to monitor licensing requirements, CLASS, and effective and efficient record-keeping and reporting systems.
• Maintain safe and sanitary facilities by ensuring that staff-to-child ratios are maintained at all times, child abuse and neglect policies are enforced and staff are trained to child supervision guidelines and licensing requirements.
• Perform classroom and other center duties, when needed.
• Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Work with the teaching staff and family service workers to encourage parent involvement in all components of the program.
• In the absence of a Site Supervisor, assume full responsibility for site operations for a Head Start center, as assigned.
• Engage in the promotion of staff development and continuous learning through training, observation, coaching, and supervision.
• Build connections in the community to recruit staff, families, and partners for the program.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Management, Human Services, or related field, with a minimum of 9 credit hours in Early Childhood. Must have Kansas Program Director approval for up to 100 children ages 0-5.
• Experience: 1 to 3 years experience in Head Start or other ECE program, plus proven leadership experience. Strongly prefer at least one year’s experience in supervising staff.
• Ability to build rapport with parents.
• Ability to drive as requested to sites needing coverage and/or support, as assigned.
• Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
• Ability to handle stressful and sensitive situations professionally.
• Ability to determine and prioritize workload while being flexible to emergent/unplanned needs and situations.
• Ability to interpret and implement complex policies and regulations.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work cooperatively as a team leader and team member.
• Knowledge and sensitivity to cultural differences.
• Computer literacy.

Benefits

Child Start's Assistant Site Supervisor is $21.38 per hour, 40 hours per week and 52 weeks per year.

This is not a remote position, must be able to commute daily to Wichita, KS.
