The University of Kansas Health System, Division of Infectious Diseases, is seeking a physician scientist faculty member to join its expanding team to support the departmental mission of delivering the highest quality of care, as well as satisfying teaching, research, and academic responsibilities at the region's quaternary referral center.

Required Qualifications:

* MD and/or MD/PhD or equivalent
* Board Certification in Internal Medicine
* Board Eligible/Certified in Infectious Disease

About the Position:

* The University of Kansas Health Care System, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases are recruiting candidates for a full-time physician scientist faculty position. The Division of Infectious Diseases seeks strong candidates with a demonstrated track record of funded and published research, including interdisciplinary collaborations, with a broadly defined focus in infectious diseases.
* The Department of Internal Medicine has a thriving and rapidly expanding research portfolio that spans the entire spectrum of basic and clinical research from genes and molecules to translation of discoveries in the community. With a new Research Office, the Department has witnessed unsurpassed enthusiasm and support for research over the past year. Internal Medicine active grant funding is over $43M.
* The candidate will have 60-80% protected research effort. This will include support for staffing, equipment, and laboratory space from the Department of Internal Medicine and Division of Infectious Diseases. Additionally, financial support for program expansion in pursuit of grant funding is available.
* The candidate will have 20-40% clinical effort. This includes rotating on the inpatient infectious diseases' consultation service. While on the consultation service responsibilities include seeing new inpatient consultations as well as follow-up patients. These duties may involve a teaching service that typically is comprised of medical students, internal medicine residents, and/or infectious diseases fellows. Clinical teaching is expected when overseeing a teaching service. Additionally, the infectious diseases consult services are support by infectious diseases pharmacists.
* Additionally, the candidate will be required to participate in teaching activities. This includes the infectious diseases core lecture series, infectious diseases journal club, infectious diseases case conference, and infectious diseases research conference.
