Summary: In support of DAWSON's Enterprise Tele-Behavioral Health Clinical Services contract with the Defense Health Agency (DHA), we are seeking qualified candidates to fill our Psychiatrist position.
This is a full-time, remote position. Annual Salary: $230,000- $260,000
1099 work an option as well.
Key Responsibilities: - Perform duties as a Practitioner and Consultant in Psychiatry with emphasis on problems of all levels of complexity and must come to the position with knowledge and experience (ideally working with the military population) providing treatment services in routine outpatient services using virtual platforms to low and/or moderate acuity patients. Treatments require very advanced knowledge and/or skill and selection from a variety of alternatives.
- Make recommendations on major diagnostics and treatment plans. Provide continuing follow-up care for chronic outpatients with acute disorders and complications of these disorders, such as psychosis, organic brain syndrome, substance abuse/addictions, etc. and provides psychiatric care for triage patients presenting with acute illnesses of minor and major proportions.
- Exercise initiative and sound judgment in establishing evaluation techniques, developing treatment and rehabilitation plans and providing appropriate therapeutic treatment services. Examine and conduct thorough studies of presenting patients and evaluates laboratory and clinical findings, prescribing appropriate treatment or referring patient to appropriate specialty clinics.
- Collaborate with physicians in other medical specialties on cases involving complicated and multifaceted problems and provides professional consultation and/or collaborative medical support to other professional staff such as psychologists, advanced practical nurses, social workers, as well as military specific liaison or commanders.
- Direct Quality Assurance within his/her area of responsibility and makes decisions that have a serious impact on the lives of others, such as recommending hospitalization or determining a service member's fitness for duty or assessing and completing Medical Evaluation Board (MEB), Temporary Disability Retirement List (TDRL) evaluations, psychological autopsies, sanity boards, command consultations, and other administrative processes as required and prepares reports of such evaluations according to applicable regulations. Identify patient treatment needs and arrange for a safe therapeutic outcome. Demonstrate an understanding of requirements and benefits of TRICARE and effectively communicate these to TRICARE/DoD beneficiaries. Prepare and maintain convenience file, outpatient medical record, and inpatient record documentation in accordance with service and hospital SOPs. Prepare case summaries and other correspondence in a timely and effective fashion.
- Attend all required staff meetings as scheduled to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement and safety. Such direction and interaction will adhere to Government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocols.
- Updates patients' charts/information within 72 business hours post appointment. Documentation for a high visibility or higher acuity patient shall be updated within COB to allow shared visibility to shared providers. HCW shall follow the SOP's duty limitations, weapons access assessments. Safety and notification is a multi-disciplinary approach using providers, provider extenders, and case management teams. This solution will focus on low to moderate safety risk patients allowing the Military Treatment Facility (MTF) to focus on the higher needs, specialty needs of Soldiers in person. Provider schedule will follow DHA requirement based on skill type (18-001 has the specifics).
Qualifications: - Degree/Education: Employee must hold a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree.
- Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: None
- Internship/Residency: and have successfully completed an internship, residency in Psychiatry and/or Psychiatry Fellowship in an accredited United States (U.S.) Psychiatry Training program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. Descriptions of such programs are described below.

- An internship program involves broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treating a variety of medical problems under supervision (e.g., internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics-gynecology, and pediatrics). Such programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for internship training an appropriate accrediting body.
- A residency program involves training in a specialized field of medicine in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in the specialty by an appropriate accrediting body.

- A fellowship program involves advanced training (beyond residency training) in a given medical specialty in either a clinical or research setting in a hospital or an institution accredited in the U.S. for such training.
- Experience: Two years of experience providing Psychiatry using virtual platforms. Candidates with less than two years of experience using virtual platforms will be considered. Preferred candidate will have experience providing Psychiatry using virtual platforms within the MHS. Virtual health experience outside the MHS is acceptable.
- Board Certification: Employee must maintain current board certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic, Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
- Licensure/Registration: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Psychiatrist.
- Conditions of employment: This position requires the contractor to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges. Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
