The Director, Domestic Organic Procurement & Seed will maximize profits from domestic organic grain origination and seed development program, and secure farmer contracts for origination to merchandise to internal/external customers, supply our oilseed crush operations and oil refinery.  In addition, to determine the strategy and structure for our specialty seed business.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Direct the origination and procurement of grain from organic producers nationally.
• Develop strategies, procedures, and promotional programs to support local grain origination and procurement programs.
• Develop customer relations with grain producers to ensure a service and reliability level that will establish Perdue as the producer’s first choice.
• Research and provide regional information relative to competitive offers, services, and purchasing programs to assist in establishing grain values in assigned areas.
• Manage planning to ensure timely and cost effective supply of grain to the production facility.
• Coordinate with Grain Merchandising on all positions to maximize profitability.
• Coordinate with Regional and local operation personnel to develop delivery hours and logistics plans for inbound and outbound grain movements. 
• Coordinate the day-to-day grain accounting activity with Salisbury to insure timely and accurate settlements and record keeping.
• Manage origination, support function and asset structure to ensure it fits with our current and future needs.
• Develop seed strategy on specialty seeds (HEAR, HO non-GMO Canola, HO organic soy).
• Perform other task as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Education

• BS degree (Agriculture, Business, Management)
• MBA preferred

Experience Requirements

• 10 - 15 years experience with organic grain origination, procurement, and seed development.

Experience Preferred

• Understanding of standard software applications.
• Strong communication, math, analytical and interpersonal skills.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

• Able to operate a motor vehicle and travel to and from customer locations. 

• Able to move freely about farms and other agricultural areas. 

• Exposed to external weather conditions to include rain, snow and extreme temperatures (-15 to 90 Degrees Fahrenheit), humidity, (0 - 100%), and noise (50db to 100db). 

• Able to use standard office equipment to include telephone, computers, copiers etc. 

• Able to lift up to 50 pounds. 

• Overnight travel required.
