The UCPath Center is the University of California's shared services center in Riverside, CA. The UCPath Center manages the payroll, benefits, and other human resources transactions for more than 200,000 UC employees working across ten UC campuses, five medical centers, three national labs and more. DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW



Position Summary
Having wide-ranging accounting-related experience, uses expert accounting concepts and standards and organization objectives to resolve complex accounting issues and assignments where analysis of data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors and multiple sources of accounting and finance related information. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments. Internal and external contacts often pertain to accounting and financial reporting matters of significance to the department and the organization. Is considered a subject matter expert and often recognized as an expert externally in the industry. Under the general review of the Finance Manager, the Accountant is the supervising accountant position, managing system-wide UCPath compliance with Federal, multi-state and multi-municipal taxation laws, the federal government's rules and regulations with regards to composite benefit rates, and benefit plan accounting. The incumbent is responsible for interpreting and implementing constantly changing tax regulations and developing policies and procedures to minimize potential financial liability. This position requires both operational accounting and technical skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The incumbent oversees the following key areas of responsibility: 1. Payroll tax (reconciliation of federal, state, and social security accounts and coordinates regulatory reporting 2. Composite Benefit Rates 3. Benefit Plan Accounting 4. Audit, analyze, and reconcile general ledger accounts. 5. Proactively identifies current, potential and emerging out of compliance problems and makes management recommendations to correct issues. 6. Ensure UCPath compliance with GAAP and internal policies. The incumbent will support the ongoing evaluation of department processes/procedures for improvement to drive increased effectiveness and operational excellence. He/She will also participate in special projects such as process redesign and implementation, documentation and training with regards to UCPath (i.e. Pilot, Deployments 1 and 2).

SALARY AND BENEFITS


The University of California, Office of the President, is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range shows the growth potential for this position and the pay scale is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION


This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at the UCPath Center in Riverside and remote in California.
