Job description

The Department of Economics seeks a candidate for one year, full time, post baccalaureate appointment in economics. The post baccalaureate will be mentored by the Economics faculty member, Sebnem Kalemli-Ozcan, as part of the new initiative, "Global Linkages Hub". The Hub will feature a data center connecting firms and their financing via local lenders and global investors linking to their supply chain partners. The candidate will work on individual and collaborative projects as a research assistant.

The appointment has an expected term of at least one year starting September 1, 2024. There is a possibility of a two-year appointment or a second-year renewal. The post baccalaureate is expected to enroll in one undergraduate or graduate course per regular semester, at no tuition cost to the hired associate.

Requirements for the position include (1) an undergraduate degree with a strong quantitative course background, (2) the ability to take initiative and work independently, (3) an interest in pursuing a research career in economics, (4) strong technical skills including in scientific computing, and (5) a willingness to collaborate and contribute to the Economics faculty member's research. Knowledge of statistical programs that are used to deal with large datasets such as R, Stata, Python, Matlab is preferred, Experience working with large micro datasets is important.
