Introduction This role is for an AVP Reinsurance Broker, North America, that reports to and supports the SVP and Director of Reinsurance; North America, in the management of client accounts primarily in property facultative property reinsurance, but also includes some casualty facultative and treaty reinsurance. The candidate should be well versed in P&C insurance and, ideally, in the
reinsurance marketplace. Insurance licensing (e.g. a Texas General Agents License and Texas Life and Health License) is required for the position and must be secured shortly after joining, if the successful candidate does not currently have these licenses.
• Gather and analyze client exposure data, loss history, and standard and unique coverage needs for determining ideal reinsurance structures
• Prepare reinsurance submissions and executive narratives, including reviewing and analyzing large data sets to look for trends, and organizing submissions to provide the best possible output to clients
• Actively participate in the placement process, by analyzing quotes, preparing quote comparisons and negotiating quotes for optimal terms and pricing
• Tracking and documenting pricing and coverage specs in quotes, authorizations, and communications to continually be aware of the shape and progress of the placement
• Following up with markets on quotes, firm orders, binders, certificates/treaties and endorsements
• Preparing post-placement documentation, brokerage estimate exhibits, premium exhibits and placement schematics
• Reviewing, editing and organizing large volumes of material in a short time frame, largely within Excel, accordingly a strong level of comfort working within and creating Excel worksheets is a must
• Quantifying the impact of various reinsurance structures on individual large losses and/or insurance company financials
• Maintaining client, co-broking and underwriting contacts and relationships
• Researching market trends
• Working with accounting to coordinate billings of premium and loss amounts Qualifications and skills required:
• A strong knowledge of reinsurance, preferably 5+ years of experience in P&C reinsurance, either ceded or assumed, or other experience in large commercial insurance risks along with CPCU, ARe, and CIC designations
• Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management & Insurance, Finance, Accounting, or other business-related field
• Strong technical understanding of insurance, including following current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology, and information affecting the insurance and reinsurance markets
• Ability to apply creative, analytical and mathematical thinking in the business and insurance environment
• Proactive, creative and analytical thinker that works well independently and within a team
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Products, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Strong time management skills and project management skills, including accurately scoping out length and difficulty of tasks and projects and setting objectives and goals to meet deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Detail oriented
• Travel less than 20%
• Time zone requirements of certain global reinsurance markets require flexibility for potential early morning or late evening calls with critical markets during the placement phased
