JOB DESCRIPTION

Our organization is currently seeking a Credit Balance Resolution Specialist.

The Credit Balance Resolution Specialist is a key strategic and operational role responsible for RCM activities related to collection of patient financial responsibility. This position involves researching accounts with credit balances to understand the root cause of the credit. Understanding of treatment plans, insurance benefits, and account ledgers is required. The specialist may need to contact dental practice representatives, insurance payors, and/or patients to resolve the account. Resolution may involve applying credits to open balances or adjusting the credit balance to a specified code for further attention.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Research, initiate, follow up, and resolve all credit balances
• Review treatment plans, insurance benefits, practice management system ledgers, and account notes
• Perform account transactions correctly: allocation of credits to open balances and application of ledger adjustments
• Escalate issues appropriately for additional review
• Navigate through various payor systems and multiple internal systems to ensure timely and accurate account resolution
• Superior problem solving and analytical skills
• Multi-task and maintain organization
• Stay current on healthcare regulatory statutes relating to healthcare and healthcare reimbursement policies
• Identify trends and analyze root causes to drive work efficiently with team
• Follow all applicable communication procedures, guidelines, and policies
• Ensure full regulatory compliance and legal requirements. Identify any potential risk issues.
• Maintain strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations

MINOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participate in other revenue cycle meetings, as necessary
• Perform other duties as required or requested by leadership

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience working with account ledgers
• Experience in a dental or medical organization
• Experience with QSIDental Web (QDW) and Dentrix Ascend

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Fluently speak, read, and write English
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Basic skills in MS Office
• Basic analytical skills
