OVERVIEW
At Sunrun our mission is to create a planet run by the sun. As part of the Data Platform Team you will support this mission by securing, maintaining, validating and providing access to the data that drives Sunrun’s success. We are looking for a proactive, experienced, and independent Senior Data Management Engineer to join our data management and operations team. This position requires particular emphasis on cloud services, third-party applications, cloud management tools, database engines, and external data sources. The ideal candidate possesses in-depth knowledge of ETL processes, cloud platforms, relational and NoSQL databases, CI/CD processes, and agile practices. Our ideal candidate also thrives with a degree of autonomy in a dynamic, team-oriented environment, thinks like an owner, and is adept at navigating the complexities of both data management and support activities. The role will become an integral part of a dedicated team serving the Sunrun Data Platform landscape.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Independently manage data integration solutions with third-party tools and external data sources.
Engage with internal business users and external partners to ensure smooth and effective data integration flows.
Design, build, and maintain scalable database solutions in Snowflake, SingleStore and MySQL.
Optimize ELT processes to improve data reliability and performance.
Ensure the accuracy and reliability of integrated data through rigorous validation and monitoring.
Adapt to evolving business needs and challenges, often juggling multiple projects simultaneously.
Continuously research new technologies and methodologies in data integration management.
Act as a knowledge resource and mentor to other team members.
Manage data access and security using RBAC.
Create and manage access to AWS cloud resources using Terraform.
Collaborate with internal and external audit teams.
Monitor status and respond to irregularities in daily scheduled data ingestion and model builds.
Deploy changes engineered, tested, and approved through our SDLC and deployment pipelines.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Excellent written and verbal communication skill and capacity to serve as an 'ambassador' for the team.
Experience implementing Agile processes to streamline/optimize dev workflows.
8-10 years of experience with data integration, ELT, API integration, and data warehousing.
Strong knowledge of ETL tools such as Fivetran, Informatica or similar.
Experience in SQL and working with both relational databases and NoSQL databases.
Experience with cloud platforms - AWS, Azure, GCP.
Proficiency in programming languages like Python.
Experience in implementing real-time data integration solutions.
Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau.
Excellent knowledge of data modeling and database design and data security models.
Proven ability to work with large datasets.
Strong problem solving skills, attention to detail, and team orientation.
Certification in ETL tools, cloud platforms, or API management platforms is a strong plus.

The starting salary/wage for this opportunity is: $107,546 to $138,274.
Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility, which is based on company and individual performance, short and long term incentives, and program-specific awards. Sunrun provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
