ABOUT THE ROLE :
As the Plumber you will be responsible for general preventive maintenance, repair, testing, installation, and solving plumbing and mechanical systems, water, medical gas supply and other distribution systems throughout the facility. The selected candidate will respond to general maintenance duties and operate hospital/building equipment and systems to include building engineer/technician operational duties as assigned.
This role is on the Engineering functional team. They are responsible for support including developing procedures and methods, technical reports and documentation, technical evaluations of events to determine root cause; recommends repairs. Preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems. Evaluation of equipment improvements to improve availability, capability and yield. Equipment failure analyses (including preventive and unscheduled maintenance). Solving and diagnoses of equipment problems.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Repair, install, replace, test, and tackle the water and medical gas supply and distribution system including valves, fixtures, and outlets.
- Install new water (with accurate certification), piping, and fixtures by blueprints, drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Maintain waste and vent lines in good operating condition using a plumber’s snake, vacuum plunger and/or jet washer.
- Assist other department staff members or contractors on projects or equipment installations.
- Complete plumbing safety inspections and PMs on backflow devices
- Provide training to other staff members, so they can perform light plumbing maintenance and repair.
- Perform general maintenance and building systems operational duties as assigned.
- Respond to emergency situations, summoning extra help as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED :
- High school diploma or general education degree ( GED ) required and two years of related experience and/or trade school training. Or equal combination of education and experience.
- Ability to understand instructions, short correspondence, and ask questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.
- Ability to recognize and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires basic analytical skills.
- Uses personal computer and / or PDA for work order system, email, ESS , and training. Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook. Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
- Decisions made with general knowledge of procedures to achieve set results. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
