Position Description
The Engineering & Technology Department is seeking enthusiastic and qualified candidates in all teaching areas of the department, as outlined in the job duties. We are especially in need of candidates for our programs in Engineering Transfer, HVAC , and Electronics; and those who are qualified to teach across domains.

Applicants will select appropriate teaching focus area(s) in the application process.

Job Duties
1. Deliver dynamic and engaging course lecture and/or course labs in one or more of the following areas:

A. ELECTRONICS
a. Mathematics through Basic Calculus
b. Basic Electronics: Passive and Active Circuits and Devices
c. Communications circuits: Radio (AM & FM), T.V., Antenna and Microwave
d. Electronic Devices and Digital Electronics: Logic gates through microprocessor hardware and software
e. Industrial Process Control

B. COMPUTER AIDED DRAFTING
a. Hardware and software in drafting
b. AutoCAD, Autodesk Building Suite, Revit, Solidworks, SketchUp, and similar software tools.
c. Operation of various 2D and 3D output devices
d. Three-dimensional wire frame and surface modeling

C. WELDING AND MANUFACTURING
a. Safety practices in the manufacturing environment
b. Machine shop operation such as drill press, milling machine, and lathe engine
c. Computer Aided Manufacturing ( CAM ) and Numerical Control (NC)
d. Various Welding practices such as gas, electric, TIG , and MIG
e. Blue Print Reading – Manufacturing

D. ENGINEERING (lower division transfer courses)
a. Engineering Graphics with CAD
b. Engineering Materials Science and Laboratory
c. Electrical Circuit Analysis and Laboratory
d. Engineering Mechanics (Statics and Dynamics)
e. Engineering Computing (using C++, MATLAB , or similar)
f. Engineering Design and Software Tools

E. ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY , GENERAL
a. Applied Mathematics through Trigonometry
b. Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Design ( HVAC ) and Environmental Control Technology
c. Refrigeration Design
d. Plumbing and Piping Design
e. Machine Shop and Metal Fabrication

F. ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE & SUSTAINABILITY
a. Introductory Environmental Science lecture and/or lab
b. Renewable and alternative energy lecture and/or lab

2. Perform duties associated with lecture and/or lab instructing and assessing student progress including, but not limited to, grading, required recordkeeping, etc.

3. May participate in departmental functions, such as staff meetings, committee work, faculty evaluations, curriculum development, and others.

4. Teach in person lecture, lab, day, evening, and/or Saturday classes or classes at one or more sites as required.

5. May participate in the development and/or selection of ancillary materials, equipment, computer software, etc. that will enhance the offerings of the department.

6. Supports and engages in an innovative culture of culturally responsive, inclusive and anti-racist practices as it relates to student success with an awareness of student equity gaps.

7. Participates in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism to center pedagogy.

8. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds (Required).

2. Earned Master’s Degree in any field of Engineering Technology or Engineering from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT ;
OR
Earned Bachelor’s Degree in any of the above from an accredited institution AND earned Master’s Degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Biological Science, or Chemistry from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT ;
OR
Earned Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, or Engineering from an accredited institution AND a valid professional engineer’s license (must be valid in California); OR THE EQUIVALENT ;
OR
Earned Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent foreign degree, plus two years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member’s assignment; OR THE EQUIVALENT ;
OR
Earned Associate Degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent
foreign degree, plus six years of professional experience directly related to
the faculty member’s assignment; OR THE EQUIVALENT ;
OR
Hold a fully-satisfied LIFE California Community College Instructor Credential in Engineering (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1, 1990).

1. Demonstrated industry related and technical work experience.

2. Previous successful teaching experience in post-secondary institution.

3. Demonstrated ability to engage and instruct students with widely varying ethnic, mathematical, and science backgrounds.

4. Academic work in any related disciplines beyond the state minimum education requirements.

5. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.

6. Evidence of successful instructional experience at the university or college level using culturally responsive pedagogy.

7. Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of inequities in higher education and a commitment to rectifying policies and processes that restrict access for historically minoritized and disproportionately impacted students.

AMENDED TO REFLECT UPDATE IN CONTACT INFORMATION FOR TITLE 5/ EEO / ADA .

City College of San Francisco will accept applications with all required supporting documentation at any time until October 30, 2024.
